Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a SQL Database administrator to join our global IT team. This role can be based at our office in Milwaukee, WI or Chicago, IL (near O’Hare). We offer a hybrid work schedule (2 days per week in the Milwaukee or Chicago office for collaboration, team meetings, working sessions, etc. and up to 3 days per work can be telecommuting from your home office). 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with IT application architects, data architects, and infrastructure architects to plan and meet corporate SQL standards and business goals 
  • Assist with developing databases to support web based, high volume transaction applications 
  • Work with IT to ensure compliance with corporate policy.
  • Building and maintaining moderately complex stored procedures in collaboration with .NET programmers.
  • Developing data extracts from existing SQL databases, backup and recovery of database sites and utilization of https, IIS, Windows and .NET programming techniques 
  • Administer Windows 2016 and newer and SQL Server 2016 and newer platforms 
  • Monitor and tune performance database environments 
  • Migration of systems from SQL 2012 and 2016 to newer editions.  Migration of On-Premises systems and application databases to Azure IaaS or PaaS
  • Knowledge of Azure Data Factory and migrating SSIS Workflows and ETLs to ADF.
  • Active monitoring of SQL Instances for proactive support of availability and recoverability.
     

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, a related major or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years as a database administrator with three plus years SQL Server 2016 and newer 
  • The ideal candidate will have deep experience in database administration involving management of multiple SQL databases in a highly dynamic environment 
  • Must have knowledge of SQL Utilities (BCP, DTS, SSIS-2016+, SSAS, PowerBI, etc)
  • Experience with creation and implementation of fully functional SQL Server databases, ability to maintain multiple development and QA SQL Server environments 
  • Experience with Replication, Clustering, Always On and other HA architectures 
  • Strong experience with performance tuning on MS SQL Server, experience with data integrity, data retention, data analysis and data input/output processing and improving SQL code performance efficiency 
  • Advanced knowledge of T-SQL and ability to write stored procedures, UDF’s and triggers, debugging and performance tuning stored procedures, index analysis; various monitoring and tuning tools such as Profiler, Spotlight, advanced installation and configuration procedures and data normalization 
  • Proven competence with partitioning, advanced queuing, cursors, etc. 
  • Must have basic working knowledge of hardware, networking and SQL Server connectivity and the tools needed to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with them.
