How you will help us create value together:


As a Product Support Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Product Support Shovel team. The Product Support Shovel team supports our global fleet of electric rope shovels and is the factory liaison to regional distributors and affiliates responsible for reducing machine downtime through technical support solutions. Activities will include providing resolution to technical problems and implementation of corrective or upgraded components, resulting in end customer cost savings and reduction of machine downtime and warranty costs.

This position will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee’s Harbor District! The target start date for this role is Summer 2023 and has potential to be extended into the Fall 2023 school semester. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Manage Specific Product Issues through the issue resolution process and update the records in SalesForce accordingly
  • Migrate equipment serialized paperwork in SharePoint to the equivalent serial number machine in SalesForce
  • Organize structural illustration diagrams for all shovel models, for all major structures.   Build artwork, collaborate, and identify areas of concern, and publish documents.
  • Create and add parts book notes for product issues and add them into both SalesForce PIT and parts books accordingly
  • Review existing product issues and ensure critical fields are up to date. This will require collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Assist with writing and proof-reading technical service documents in preparation for global distribution.  This will require collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Document service procedures (written and/or video footage).
  • Update service/maintenance interval checklists (high level schedule).

Qualifications We Look For


Basic Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering, or similar, from an accredited college or university.
  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or master’s level student in good academic standing.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a goal.
  • Excellent organization and personal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, often will be in communication with international company representatives.
  • Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful when needed.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous classroom and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas: (Mechanics, Welding, Electrical Theory, Pneumatics).
  • Interest in or aptitude to learn about careers in the heavy equipment industry.
  • Experience in trades skills such as Mechanical Repair, Electrical Wiring, Machine Shop or other hands-on work that aids in special awareness and problem solving.
  •  Computer Automated Drafting/Design experience a plus, Solid Works is ideal.
