Job Overview

The Product Manager - Track Drills will create and maintain the Strategic Product Plan for Mining Track Drills, producing a Master Product Plan that is incorporated into the company’s strategic plan. This Role will Oversee Current Track Drill Product Portfolio, managing the pricing and configurations. The Product Manager - Track Drills will drive New Product Development for Track Drills and support the Sale of Track Drill products through technical and commercial support of tenders and presentations to customers.  This Role will Guide Product Marketing Activity for Track Drills, including product positioning, product roadmaps, launches, presentations, competitive comparisons and sales training. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop/maintain strategic product plan, including market requirements, competitive landscape, gaps, product positioning, lifecycle, pricing, operations footprint and product support plan.  Assist with Master Plan for Surface Products Division.
  • Oversee current product offering through revision of machine pricing and configurations on master price list with Commercial Management.  Evaluate requests from the field and participate in project definition meetings to ensure customer requirements.
  • Create ideas for new features or systems and develop a high level business case to determine feasibility.  Launch formal New Product Development (NPD) programs for selected ideas (Phase 1 - Project Initiation).
  • Perform Voice of Customer (VOC) to create Functional Specification and Business Plan for new features or systems (Phase 2 - Project Definition).
  • Guide product development through engagement in Concept and Design Phases.  Continually evaluate and adjust Business Plan and Functional Specification through the NPD process based on customer feedback (VOC).
  • Identify potential customers and work with Regions to secure test programs.  Assist with test plans.  Actively participate in, monitor and communicate status of testing (First Build & Validation).
  • Develop Product Launch Kits with Marketing Communications for new products.
  • Visit Customers to present products, build relationships and understand applications, requirements and market.  Host Customer factory visits.
  • Support sales process with technical and commercial input to tenders and S&OP process.  Provide application support for sales opportunities or continuous improvement programs through coordination with Application Engineering.
  • Create marketing materials with Marketing Communications, including presentations, competitive comparisons, animations, videos, literature and promotional materials.
  • Perform research on industry conditions, product performance and competitive activity.  Build and leverage relationships with Customers, Region Sales & Service personnel and other Suppliers in the industry to achieve the level of expertise needed to properly position our products.  Prepare technical presentations and present at industry conferences.
  • Participate in Product Reliability Review Board (PRRB) to help clarify, prioritize and solve product issues.
  • Update organization on products and projects through training, communication to the Regions, and participation in Product Update meetings.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Marketing or a related field is required.
  • 5+ years experience in Product Management, Product Development, or Product Marketing is needed in this Role.
  • Direct mining industry experience with Track Drills is desired.
  • Must have excellent communication and public speaking skills with an ability to demonstrate confidence in material knowledge.
  • Technical aptitude and experience with market analysis, strategic planning, and equipment sales is preferred.
