Job Overview

We are in the midst of better aligning evolving business needs with a dynamic technology landscape by defining and deploying meaningful target state business and technical architectures. This high impact role is for a Principal Enterprise Architect to define an actionable application architecture strategy and roll it out across the enterprise. This role can be based at our office in Milwaukee, WI or Chicago, IL (near O’hare). We offer a hybrid work schedule – minimum of two days per week working in the office (Milwaukee or Chicago) for collaboration, team meetings, working sessions, etc. and up to three days per week can be telecommuting from your home office.  

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Understand Enterprise business and technology strategies to ensure Enterprise Architecture efficiently aligns and works to meet those objectives.
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture Leadership and stakeholders to capture, implement, maintain, and/or enhance EA processes. Includes defining new, or enhancing existing EA Process metrics, as required. 
  • Collaborate with organizational domains to develop and maintain a repository of processes, applications by process, and standards (current, emerging, tolerate and divest) for each mapping of process to application(s).
  • Organize and participate in detailed data collection and auditing (data quality and data maturity) within the EA Information Repositories.
  • Own and sustain multiple Enterprise Architecture repositories with accurate and relevant information.
  • Work with stakeholders to help evaluate new technology requirements and provide recommendations based on organizational direction and existing standards.
  • Guide teams via the definition and recommendation of application architectural patterns, development practices and standards, and partner with leadership to promote their adoption across the organization
  • Determine enhancements made to the EA information repositories working with the Enterprise Architecture Leadership and stakeholders.
  • Provide thought leadership on application architecture & technologies across domains and ensure IT work is aligned with approved business and technology strategies    
  • Guide and influence stakeholders to understand and utilize the defined EA Processes.
  • Understand the needs and wants of Enterprise Architecture Leadership and stakeholders to provide appropriate data, reports, and/or information from the EA Repositories.
  • Hire, train, and manage EA COE Resources for Support, Data Maintenance, and Analyst needs as required.
  • Provide day-to-day mentoring and coaching to application architects and technical professionals
     

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science / Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 10 + years of professional experience of increasing responsibility; including experience leading teams or as an architect
  • 4+ years of experience running or supporting the enterprise architecture function
  • TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification
  • Experience building modern, cloud-native service-based applications
  • Experience with design and implementation of large, complex enterprise systems
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices
  • Strong written & verbal communications skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced global work environment.
  • Ability to understand and present data simplistically. 

 

The following additional experience would be a plus, but is not required: 

  • Software development experience preferred: SharePoint, Troux Application, Microsoft Office
  • Experienced in SharePoint; from basic list creation to semi-complex workflows with auto-generated communication.
