Job Overview

The Operations Data Analyst plays a critical role in supporting machinery factory and heat treat operations by transforming production data into actionable insights. This position ensures machines and processes operate at peak efficiency through the analysis of uptime, productivity, and quality metrics. By delivering accurate data and performance analysis, the analyst enables operations, engineering, planning, and quality teams to make informed decisions, drive lean manufacturing initiatives, and achieve continuous improvement.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and report on machine uptime data to identify patterns, downtime causes, and opportunities for improving equipment utilization.

  • Evaluate earned hours compared to actual machine uptime to support accurate productivity tracking and efficiency improvements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on lean initiatives, process optimization, and waste reduction projects to enhance throughput and reduce cycle times.

  • Partner with operations and quality teams to analyze defect trends, root cause issues, and develop corrective/preventive actions that improve product quality.

  • Develop, maintain, and automate dashboards and reports that provide clear visibility into operational performance metrics such as dispatch compliance and expedited work.

  • Present findings and recommendations to operations leadership, enabling informed decisions that drive performance improvements.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data sets.

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, or Tableau.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

  • Knowledge of machining, heat treat, or related manufacturing processes is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP/MES systems (SAP, Oracle, Plex, etc.) and understanding of production data flow.

  • Knowledge of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), value stream mapping, and other lean tools.
