Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Learning & Development to join our Human Resources team! The Learning & Development Manager will work as part of the Talent Development center of excellence to support talent programs for the North America region and Global Mining Solutions organizations. The primary scope of this role will focus on designing, developing, and delivering professional development learning experiences and will also support initiatives such as, but not limited to, career mapping and technician development programs, D&I learning initiatives, and leadership development programs.  This role will be based at Komatsu's Milwaukee, WI or Chicago, IL (O'Hare) headquarters. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develops, executes and evaluates curriculum and programs to address competency gaps, meet organizational needs and develop employees’ skills and competencies.

  • Collaborates effectively with employees, internal customers, and external partners to design, develop, and implement development solutions that support the needs of our employees. 

  • Evaluates best practice standards and ensures practices are consistent with principles of adult learning, achieve intended impact and participant satisfaction.

  • Leads and collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop strategies that will facilitate cost effective development programs, while overseeing schedules, program materials, and program logistics.

  • Partner with other functions to support functional specific training initiatives, e.g. compliance, ethics, diversity and inclusion, etc.

  • Effectively uses current learning technology, systems, tools, and resources to train through live and virtual modalities.

  • Drives organizational adoption of the learning center/K-Success via communication, briefing sessions, partnering with HRIS analysts, and monitoring utilization.

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify learning and development needs for individual contributors and professionals across the organization.

  • In collaboration with others, develop tools and resources for effective career pathing that supports employee development.

  • Leads and supports the implementation and sustainment of the organization’s online learning catalogue to support employee professional development.

  • Manages relationships with external vendors to leverage organization-wide resources and provide optimal service to the organization.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources or a related field

  • 5+ years of progressive work experience in human resources, talent development and/or learning and development

  • Strong facilitation skills and experience driving talent/learning initiatives and building relationships that gain buy-in and commitment to the value of development initiatives. Recognized facilitation certification preferred. 

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, and manage and meet deadlines; strong project management skills

  • Ability to establish credibility and build collaborative partnerships with all levels of management and individuals across a broad range of business groups

  • Experience in aligning projects, tasks, and goals with departmental and organizational strategy

  • Excellent written, visual, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience with the Microsoft suite of programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook,), including Teams for holding live meetings, briefings and review sessions on learning programs

  • Experience designing and developing learning content to support employee development needs

  • Ability to travel up to 10-15% of the time; Common destinations: US and Canada
