Job Overview

The Manager, Creative Studio is a brand expert with a track record of building and leading creative teams and processes that produce world class creative deliverables. This manager is responsible for developing work that has meaningful and measurable impact, achieves marketing and business goals, and aligns with brand strategy. Communication, organization and a drive for problem-solving are key traits for success. The Komatsu Creative Studio is in a stage of growth and we're looking to build up a stellar team to support marketing initiatives across the globe.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading and managing a team of creative graphic designers and media production experts in video, photography and animations, enabling creativity and driving efficiency.
  • Oversees creative team’s capacity management, assigns work to the creative team looking at burn-out rates, ensuring team resources are allocated according to project needs and deadlines. Evaluates outsourcing partners when appropriate for overflow of work.
  • Participates, collaborates, often leads brainstorming sessions with Creative Director and other Marcomm team members in developing big creative ideas and marketing campaigns. Takes the best concepts and presents back to the decision-making team. Responsible for bringing them to life with the creative team, ensuring brand identity and message consistency across deliverables/channels.
  • Provides strategic and creative guidance to creative team for all projects and creative work flowing through, from kick-off to conclusion. Reviews, provides feedback and approves all creative work prior to stakeholder review.
  • Works hand in hand with Creative Director for the development of creative concepts and campaign pitches, preparing presentations and often times, presenting to stakeholders for feedback and approvals.
  • Proactively identifies and leads projects to improve creative studio team efficiency, like asset management, file management, design style guides, task assignments, editing, and more.
  • Works proactively to remove roadblocks and ensuring the team members have the input they need to do a good job.
  • Engages team members, fosters creativity, bringing out the best in them. Enables creativity, constantly encouraging innovation based on future trends, techniques, software, and tools.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Design or related field
5+ years of experience in a creative agency or in-house creative team
2+ years experience as a leader
Strong sense of design and creativity - Art direction and concepting. Strong understanding of how to bring a campaign to life visually across multiple platforms.
Excellent communication and presentation skills – able to confidently share concepts and ideas up, down and sideways, good writer/editor
Significant knowledge of design fundamentals: visual, user experience, interaction, and motion, story telling
Self-starter who is organized, focused and detail-oriented
A passion for innovation through technology
Understands and experience with digital design – webpages, email marketing, mobile apps, blogs, etc.
Exceptionally organized, able to juggle many complex projects at once without becoming overwhelmed; excellent project manager, understanding and leveraging organizational tools, software, people and resources necessary to execute multiple complex projects simultaneously
Software skills required (high mastery):

MS O365 and Office
MAC / Windows OS
Thorough understanding of many creative mediums and outputs including
Photography
Videography
Graphic design
Digital design
Typography
Offset and digital printing best practices
3d workflows
Video editing workflows (software and hardware requirements)
Motion graphics
Interactive Workflow
