Job Overview

We are recruiting for a Business Development Manager to support Drills in the North America Mining Distribution and Service group.  The Business Development Manager is responsible for the promotion, sales and support of products offered to obtain maximum revenue, profitability, and market share in an assigned territory.  A key aspect of the responsibility is building long-term customer relationships through a detailed understanding of the customer’s business and driving the business model to align with the customer’s needs.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain new and existing business to expand product sales throughout North America.
  • Develop go-to-market strategy and business plan related to drills – Direct Service and Independent dealers
  • Develop sales and support opportunities for Komatsu drills
  • Work with all the related Komatsu regions and dealers to monitor ongoing opportunities
  • Work with all the related Komatsu manufacturing facilities and personnel- KAC, KLTD.
  • Maintain and Improve Market Share for Drills
  • Maintain and grow relationships with the Greenfield customers and EPCM’s
  • Sustain and Grow OE revenue
  • Develop and execute strategic marketing plans for the drills product line, drive the sales and service function from beginning to end.
  • Interface key technical issues with our Engineering group to assist, rectify and improve repetitive or critical issues
  • Being a Subject Matter Expert and work closely with regional and account managers, Product managers and factory
  • Monitor and communicate product upgrades and advancements.
  • Lead the product introduction planning process for introduction of new drill products into NA market and/or new market segments.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Technical (Engineering/Trades) degree (or two-year college diploma).
  • 10+ years proven sales and support experience of heavy equipment.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Self-motivated and high energy with a sense of urgency in job responsibility.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and active listening skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with varying audiences from production workers to customer management.
  • Highly developed time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the relevant industry.
  • Full understanding of Site Safety and Environment protocols.
  • Demonstrated customer management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and presenting proposals.
  • Interface key technical issues with Komatsu Technical Support group to assist, rectify and improve repetitive or critical issues
  • Some experience with or ability to develop knowledge of customer business processes.
  • Computer Literacy including MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.).
  • Ability to travel frequently (Up to 70%).
