How you will help us create value together:

As an Advanced Technologies and Digital Innovations Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the IT Digital Solutions Team. Activities will include the execution and support of various technology innovation initiatives pertaining to AR/VR, AI/ML, Low/No Code development, digital supply chain solutions, IoT, and more. The Advanced Digital Technology Intern will also assist with research, reporting and documentation, and driving proof-of-concept value and feasibility into viable opportunities.

This position will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee’s Harbor District! The target start date for this role is Summer 2023 and has potential to be extended into the Fall 2023 school semester. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to understand challenges and opportunities and align digital capabilities to drive solutions.
  • Assisting the team with development and execution of innovative and emerging technology projects to demonstrate viable solution opportunities.
  • Produce detailed reporting and technical documentation to accurately translate progression and provide demonstrations.
  • Identify synergistic opportunities throughout the business to enhance digital capabilities and enhance our technology innovation portfolio.
  • Perform research and development of cutting-edge technologies that are pertinent to Komatsu stakeholders and articulate the value of pursuing such opportunities.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in MIS, IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Data Analytics, Data Science/Statistics, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Junior, Senior, or Master’s level in good academic standing
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a goal
  • Excellent organization and personal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful when needed
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technology enthusiast with strong business acumen and ability to effectively problem solve
  • Strong knowledge of agile methodologies and experience with DevOps
  • Previous classroom and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Advanced and emerging technology implementation
    • Information systems, data analytics, data science with technical knowledge of SAP, Salesforce, Python, SQL, PowerBI, API development, ML/AI
    • 3D modeling and game engine development experience with Unity, Unreal, Blender, Maya, or other
