Job Overview

The Human Resources Specialist at Komatsu will be based at our NEW Milwaukee Headquarters Location.    This is a great opportunity for a Newer Human Resources Professional to make a positive impact on the Human Resources Function and with the Komatsu Business as a whole.   The Human Resources Specialist will Support and Partner closely with the Komatsu Human Resources Function along with other potential Komatsu Employees on various Human Resources-Related Topics and Projects.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Works with HR operations to process employee changes, contractors, new hires, terminations, etc.; Liaison with HR operations, payroll, HRIS, HRIT, etc. on issue resolution
  • First point of contact to assist employees with questions about HR policies and procedures, benefits, payroll, etc.
  • Coordination and Implementation of Kronos (Time clock) call-ins.  This will also include daily monitoring of Prudential FMLA approvals.
  • Utilizes Information System Tools to analyze data and develop / produce regular ad hoc reports related to benefits, compensation, employment, etc.  Composes and prepares correspondence and reports.  Assists in HR decisions and problem-solving.
  • Assists HR Management in the development, revision, implementation and communication of company policy, procedures and administrative practices.
  • Participate on HR Project Teams for various assigned projects, ie: policy projects, etc.
  • Review and facilitate HR invoices for A/P Processing.
  • Facilitate and assists with labor related matters:  This will include coordinating attendance letters, organizing monthly grievance meetings, as well as logging and coordinating the weekly job postings process, when necessary. Serve as a Notetaker during Union Grievance meetings, CBA negotiations, and other Union meetings as needed.
  • Responsible for the full cycle recruitment process for assigned roles by creating new job requisitions in the HRIS system, assisting hiring mgrs. with questions on the recruitment process, reviewing resumes, sourcing candidates, coordinating and scheduling interviews, conducting interviews, generating offer letters, extending offers to candidates, etc.
  • Owns the University Engagement / Internship Program for the corporate functions.  Manages recruitment process, including requisition process, outreach, initials interviews, orientation of new employees, and onboarding. Includes scheduling, attending, and general responsibility for student career fairs.
  • Assist with employee relations issues such as performance management, employee development, conflict resolution, investigations, etc.   
  • Support of the Komatsu Performance Review Process, 
  • Coordinates and assists with Service Awards and Dinners for Komatsu Mining Corporation USA and Canada.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 1+ years of Human Resources Experience.
  • Experience preparing reports, presentations, charts, graphs, memos, etc.
  • Working knowledge of HR related laws and regulations.
  • Previous experience working with HRIS systems required, SAP and/or SuccessFactors is a preference.
  • Must be strong with MS Office Suite of Products – ie: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.   Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills are highly preferred.
  • Prior Labor Relations experience / exposure is a plus.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong and Effective Written / Verbal Communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Problem Identification and solution recommendation skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Strong Multi-tasking skills with an ability to successfully work both Independently and as a Team Member to complete various projects / assignments.
  • Solid organizational and attention to detail skills are needed for success in this Role.
