Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a HR Shared Services Director to join our team in Milwaukee, WI (South Harbor District). This role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive payroll strategy, ensuring compliance with local and regional regulations, and overseeing payroll operations across multiple locations. Key responsibilities include managing vendor relationships and continuously optimizing payroll systems to drive operational efficiency.
In addition, the position focuses on expanding HR shared services to support the full employee lifecycle. This includes defining service level agreements, maintaining data accuracy and integrity, and improving process consistency. The role also emphasizes building a customer-focused HR team and streamlining core HR processes to enhance overall service delivery.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive shared services payroll strategy, including vendor management, system optimization, and process standardization to streamline operations across the US. a customer-centric, results-oriented team. Set clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team. Manage performance, recognize achievements, and provide feedback.
- Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with local regulations, including tax withholdings, social security contributions, and labor laws in all countries where the company operates.
- Team Leadership: Build, develop, and manage a team of supervisors and specialists, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality payroll and time delivery.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring quality service delivery.
Shared Services Specific Responsibilities:
- Expand and evolve an HR Operations model supporting all employees, managers, transactions, information, and services, including all global mobility programs.
- Define and monitor service level agreements, key metrics, and opportunities to improve efficiencies.
- Partner with stakeholders across the HR team to develop and implement effective people processes around the entire employee lifecycle and experience (i.e., attract, recruit, develop, perform, retain, separate, re-skill).
- Lead the development of people-related compliance activities including new policy development, change management and adoption and implementation of new/updated compliance requirements to meet local, state, federal governing laws (employee handbook, policies, record keeping, training requirements, audits, AAP reporting, etc.).
- Process map and determine opportunities to streamline existing HR processes with an eye towards optimizing HR for the future.
- Centralize repeatable processes within Shared Services and simplify and streamline decentralized processes for improved operations.
- Ensure data integrity and security meets legal requirements and are maintained with the highest level of accuracy.
- Drive process and customer service improvements and innovative solutions. Streamline processes that better enable our HR team, managers, and employees to be self-sufficient leveraging SuccessFactors and related HR systems.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, in business administration or human resources preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Human Resources, with a strong supervisory background and shared services experience.
- Strong knowledge of HR and payroll regulations, practices and procedures across the US.
- Proven experience managing complex payroll operations and shared service teams across the US.
- Experience working with Workforce Dimensions or Kronos/ADP E-Time, ServiceNow, SuccessFactors and UKG Payroll is highly desirable.
- Experience using SuccessFactors and UKG payroll systems is a plus
- Travel requirements up to 20%
