Job Overview
The Engineer V will lead and support engineering projects, ensuring the development, maintenance, and improvement of components, products, and services. This role requires a strategic problem-solver who can manage complex system designs from start to finish while addressing field-related challenges within existing systems. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert who can balance innovation with practical solutions, ensuring continuous improvement in engineering processes.
Key Job Responsibilities

Lead engineering projects, perform system design calculations, concept selections and evaluations, field validation testing, design reviews, root cause failure analysis with minimal guidance.

Develop and implement solutions for complex system designs, considering the broader impact beyond individual components.

Address field-related issues by optimizing and improving existing systems.

Support improvements to streamline engineering processes and ensure compliance with global standards for design and safety.

Effectively communicate engineering issues across teams and departments.

Utilize Change Management principles to drive successful adoption of new processes and technologies.

Work with a diverse range of mechanical systems, including parallel shaft and planetary gearboxes, bearings, shafting, bolted connections, cooling systems, and hydraulics.

Work closely with manufacturing on process improvement, cost reduction opportunities and deviation requests.

Work cross functionally with all departments across the organization to support new machine builds and improve existing machine availability.

Capable of mentoring and guiding entry level engineers.
Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical engineering preferred).

15+ years of experience in engineering design, machine applications, or the mining industry.

Experience leading complex system designs from concept to completion, as well as troubleshooting and improving existing systems.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to consider the impact of engineering decisions beyond direct components.

Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) tools, such as SolidWorks and SolidWorks Manage.

Strong background in Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Knowledge of material properties and material selection.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Experience with change management implementation.

15% travel requirement, including international.
