Job Overview
The EHS Intern will be responsible for a range of support activities for the EHS department. They will assist the EHS team by contributing to environmental, sustainability, and safety projects to add direct value to the business.
This position will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee’s Harbor District. The target start date for this role is Fall 2025 and has potential to be extended into the summer of 2026. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Conduct safety inspections and audits.
- Prepare and deliver safety training.
- Investigate incidents and develop preventive measures.
- Research and analyze EHS trends and best practices.
- Maintain EHS records and track metrics.
- Participate in EHS meetings and decision-making.
- Coordinate emergency response plans.
- Support EHS initiatives and projects.
- Promote a safe and environmental culture.
- Review and update EHS policies.
- Additional tasks as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health and safety, industrial hygiene or similar programs from an accredited college or university.
- Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or master’s level student in good academic standing.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent organization and personal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership experience in organizing or working with groups.
- Project work experience.
- Relevant internship or work experience.
- Able to articulate and summarize analytical data for leadership.
