Job Overview

This is an onsite position that can be located either in Milwaukee, WI or Longview, TX. The position requires 40% of travel time between both sites.

The Cost Optimization Manager is responsible for leading supply chain activities and cost-out initiatives for the Drill product line. The cost Optimization Manager establishes and implements sourcing strategies, policies and procedures, and provides support with the sourcing selection process, working closely with Category Managers to make recommendations for sourcing.  Additionally, this position will be working with Operations and Manufacturing to assist in developing best practices and execution for Drill product line manufacturing.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Leads cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, manufacturing, logistics and supply chain to assure all project targets are achieved.
  • Champions the coordination of Original Equipment location content/price analysis (make/buy) to determine best source of supply per contractual tenders and region-specific legal requirements. 
  • Drives Drill product cost-out initiatives to achieve market competitive pricing.  Leads the management of projects to support customer on time delivery.
  • Evaluates and develops a pool of qualified suppliers to drive cost savings, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Achieves supply chain efficiencies, cost management, global utilization of inventories and capacities. Optimizes material/product movement, promotes partnerships with suppliers and customers.
  • Provides ongoing evaluation of the supply base in the areas of market research, product quality, competitive pricing, capability, and capacity. Manages and utilizes TCO/TLC to leverage sourcing opportunities including considerations of local content, taxes, duties, geo-political dimensions, Intellectual Property, and other factors determined by business strategies. 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or Business. An associate’s degree in combination with relevant working experience in Purchasing, Materials, or Engineering background will be considered.
  • Knowledge of mining, heavy equipment, and manufacturing processes highly preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience working in an ERP environment (SAP a plus).
  • CPIM, CSCP or CPM Certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work successfully in a multi-functional team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and its partners.
  • Ability to manage a project from inception to completion within constraints and deadlines.
  • Strong Analytical/critical thinking skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Knowledge of Komatsu mining products preferred.
  • MS Office proficiency
