Job Overview

The Digital Solutions Developer works closely with users, their team members, and other IT members to design application solutions, develop the design into an application, test the results, implement the system, and provide ongoing support for the application.  In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Utilize Sterling Integrator, MuleSoft, Microsoft Logic apps, and Microsoft API management to connect Komatsu to our suppliers, vendors, banks, and other strategic partners.
  • Work with the EDI team to Transform Komatsu’s digital landscape by incorporating leading-edge technologies into our best-of-breed applications suite, supporting our global customer base.
  • Learn and evaluate new technologies by building out POC’s to determine how Komatsu could implement such technology as a strategic advantage
  • Work with Komatsu’s global customer base to streamline processes and bring efficiencies to Komatsu and our customers.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Work on new development initiatives / new technologies to support a Global Client base
  • Perform solution evaluation, building, testing, and documentation.
  • Design new / enhance existing applications in response to system needs, changing user needs, or technology upgrades.
  • Support the integration of IBM Sterling Software with customers, suppliers, and Komatsu systems.  
  • Develop strong international working relationships with key users in the various functional areas to understand their needs. 
  • Stay engaged with digital innovation communities, keep up to date with relevant trends & developments, and attend relevant conferences as needed.
  • Support the deployment of systems using the corporate change control process.
  • Facilitate requirement gathering sessions to define functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Develop strong working relationships with peers across the IT team to resolve problems and expedite solutions.
  • Respond to help desk tickets in a timely manner
  • Respond to production problems and outages


  • Bachelors degree in IT, computer science, or a related field -or- equivalent combination of education and work experience 
  • IT /Application development internship or 1-2 years of applicable development experience
  • A demonstrated understanding of implementing systems through the entire lifecycle, including analysis, design, build, testing, implementation, and support.
  • Able to develop strong working relationships with team members and the user community.
  • Ability to juggle competing tasks and quickly adapt when business needs are shifted.
  • Ability to connect with business users and actively teach new technologies.
  • Knowledge of SAP iDocs, XML, and EDI BASIS, user exits, and integrations with SAP ECC functional modules is a plus but not required. 
  • Knowledge of file transfer protocols preferred but not necessary – FTP, SFTP, FTPS.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Web Services and APIs
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of the team
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
  • Ability to think critically and troubleshoot issues when they arise
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with team members and the user community
  • A passion for technology and a drive to succeed
  • Desire and ability to continue to learn and work on new technologies
