Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Current Product Support (CPS) Engineer to join our team, focusing on both software and hardware projects that support our Shovel Engineering technologies. The role involves technical troubleshooting, hands-on support during installations, and ensuring optimal functionality of our equipment through engineering, troubleshooting, and optimization skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information effectively.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple projects and document progress effectively.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and a commitment to achieving success.
  • A strong desire to continually expand knowledge base as technology evolves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and document software functional tests to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and field engineers/technicians.
  • Support existing product lines by participating in design activities and modifications of hardware and software.
  • Collaborate with engineers from various disciplines to overcome technical challenges.
  • Scale role and responsibilities based on individual experience and expertise.

Travel Requirements

  • Primary location: Milwaukee South Harbor Office.
  • Up to 35% travel required, with some trips lasting up to three weeks for product installation, support, testing, and observation to customer sites (primarily mines).
  • Travel includes commissioning new products and providing on-site support to ensure successful implementation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LabVIEW and National Instruments hardware is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and distributed IO.
  • Proficiency in system integration involving controls programming.
  • Experience integrating off-the-shelf hardware into existing architectures.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking (managed/unmanaged switches, VPN, NAT, Routing, etc.).
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (RS232/422/485, TCP/IP, UDP, CANOpen, J1939, Profibus, Profinet, etc.).
