Job Overview
This role is a development-focused position centered on building modern, cloud-native applications with an emphasis on advanced Elasticsearch engineering. You will design, develop, and optimize Elasticsearch-driven capabilities that power high-performance search, analytics, and data integration across the enterprise. In addition to Elasticsearch, you’ll work hands-on with Azure PaaS services and containerized application architectures, contributing to both backend and frontend development while ensuring clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
Success in this role also requires a strong foundation in DevOps automation to support continuous integration, deployment, and operational excellence. It’s an ideal opportunity for a developer who is passionate about crafting intelligent, data-driven solutions and enjoys working across the full cloud development stack.
This position is based onsite four days per week with one remote day, offering flexibility while still fostering the high level of collaboration and innovation that comes from working closely with teammates. You may work from either our Milwaukee South Harbor Campus or our Chicago Headquarters near O’Hare, providing a dynamic, team-oriented environment where your ideas and technical expertise directly influence our success.
Key Job Responsibilities
• Maintain, monitor, and optimize Elasticsearch instances to ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Design and implement Elasticsearch indices, mappings, and data models to support advanced search and analytics capabilities.
• Develop and manage Elasticsearch search templates using Mustache scripts to enable dynamic and reusable query structures.
• Build and automate data ingestion pipelines from multiple data sources into Elasticsearch using APIs, Azure services, and custom integrations.
• Ensure proper security, access control, and performance tuning across Elasticsearch clusters.
• Collaborate with development and data teams to integrate Elasticsearch within cloud-native applications, enhancing data search and discovery features.
• Lead hands-on application development efforts across frontend, backend, and cloud components, covering planning, coding, testing, and deployment.
• Design and implement modern, scalable solutions leveraging a broad spectrum of Azure services PAAS services like AKS, ACA
• Utilize containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes to develop and manage microservices-oriented applications.
• Integrate AI tools and services to automate processes and enhance applications with intelligent features.
• Apply secure coding practices and implement SAST tools and Wiz for continuous security validation.
• Adopt identity-based access controls and integrate with Azure AD to safeguard cloud resources.
• Develop and execute comprehensive monitoring and observability strategies using Azure Monitor and Dynatrace for proactive system health tracking.
• Collaborate closely with developers, architects, external vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment of technical solutions with project objectives.
• Plan, assign, and review work done by other team members to maintain code quality and development velocity.
• Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, technical architecture diagrams, and implementation guides to support ongoing knowledge sharing and cross-functional understanding..
Qualifications/Requirements
• Experience developing and integrating Elasticsearch solutions within cloud-native applications to enable advanced search, analytics, and data discovery capabilities. Understanding of containerization using Docker and Kubernetes, with deployment experience in microservices-based environments.
• Knowledge of AI integration, applying AI/ML tools and services to streamline workflows, provide intelligent features, and promote automation.
• Bonus: Experience in mobile app development using platform-native tools for iOS and Android.
• Incorporating testing into all aspects of development, including unit testing, functional testing, and integration testing.
• Awareness of cloud security practices, including identity-based access controls, role-based access management, and secure coding standards.
• Communication and collaboration skills developed through participation in agile, cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with organizational objectives.
Additional Information
Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $120,000. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
