Job Overview
The Automation Controls Engineer will contribute to the development and testing of autonomous systems for Electric Rope Shovels. This role is based at our headquarters in Milwaukee, WI.

Key Job Responsibilities

Develop control algorithms to enhance autonomous functionality in large-scale mining equipment.

Design, test, and validate control systems through simulations and real-world applications.

Collaborate within a small, agile team, working independently while fostering innovation.

Translate conceptual ideas into technical designs, prioritizing user experience.

Stay current with emerging technologies and apply them to automation solutions.
Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Robotics, or Mechatronics.

Background in automation technologies and/or automated vehicle systems.

Hands-on experience in designing, programming, integrating, and validating control systems.

Proficiency with software development tools relevant to automation and control systems.
Preferred Skills

Knowledge of kinematics, robotics, vision systems, and sensors.

Experience with installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system support.

Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret machine data.

Proficiency in NI hardware, LabVIEW, Python, C/C++, and MATLAB/Simulink.
