Job Overview
The Aftermarket Engineer applies engineering and physics principles to engineered design and aftermarket support of surface mining machines and components, participates in troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities and performs research and investigation activities as assigned to assist in closing Customer Relations Manager cases related to machine or component failure technical service information (TSI).
Key Job Responsibilities
- Applies Komatsu surface mining engineering standards to develop designs and conduct appropriate calculations and analysis.
- Creates solid models and detail drawings of parts and assemblies, kits, and upgrades for Komatsu
surface mining machine components. - Performs basic activities as assigned, which help prioritize and coordinate RFPDs (request for product definition); creates documentation
in the ERN (Engineer Release Notice) and RFPD systems, and support MRB (Material reviw board) process. - Researches and reviewiews documentation, observes activities and interviewiews shop or field personnel, preparing and editing draft documents, preparing images and
graphics for visualization to support standardizing and improving aftermarket products
and services. - Applies Komatsu surface mining engineering standardsto the release of ERNs and drawings
- Searches for CRM cases and product issues and compiles or reports information as assigned.
- Uses design software application packages and systems (such as Solidworks, Adept) to develop new
designs. - Provides technical and engineering support to the broader Aftermarket group as it pertains to surface
products and services (including providing 3D models, graphic renderings, CAD analysis, and
dimensional checks). - Completes safety observations.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3–5 years of experience
- Basic understanding of product application principles and specific application requirements
- Analytical capacity for creative problem-solving, process design and product application, design and
development - Risk management and cost analysis
- Strong planning and scheduling skill
- Strong data collection and analysis skills
- Strong presentation and technical communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Solid Business Acumen to create and implement programs that support business strategy
- Ability to lead non-technical personnel to technical solution
- Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and

- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
Additional Information
Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays a range of $73,800.00 - $92,300.00 - $110,800.00. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
