Job Overview
The Aftermarket Engineer II Role at Komatsu Mining will support the development, design and engineering of various Aftermarket Kits/Retrofits related to Power Solutions for zero emissions Mining Equipment.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Apply engineering and physics principles to Engineered design and Aftermarket Support of Surface Mining Machines and Components.
- Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities.
- Perform research and investigation activities as assigned to assist in closing CRM cases related to machine or component failure technical service information (TSI), or information requests.
- Refer to, understand, and apply Komatsu Surface Mining Engineering standards to develop designs and conduct appropriate calculations and analysis.
- Create solid models and detail drawings of parts and assemblies, kits, and upgrades for Komatsu surface mining machine components.
- Perform basic activities as assigned which help prioritize and coordinate RFPDs: create documentation in the ERN and RFPD systems and support our MRB process.
- Researching and reviewing documentation, observing activities, and interviewing shop or field personnel, preparing, and editing draft documents, preparing images and graphics for visualization, and the like which support standardizing and improving aftermarket products and services.
- Refer to, understand, and apply Komatsu Surface Mining Engineering Standards to the release of ERNs and drawings.
- Search for CRM Cases and Product Issues and compile or report information as assigned.
- Utilize design software application packages and systems (such as SolidWorks, Creo, Creo View, Adept) to develop new designs.
- Provide technical and engineering support to the broader Aftermarket Group as it pertains to Surface Mining Products and Services (including providing 3D models, graphic renderings, CAD analysis, and dimensional checks).
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Discipline is highly Preferred) along with related, relevant experience.
- 3+ years of engineering experience (Experience with industrial machinery, construction, or mining equipment preferred.). Basic understanding of product application principles and understanding of specific application requirements.
- Solid foundation in basic tenants of product technology, including mechanical design.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Previous CREO CAD Experience.
- SAP & BAAN System Experience.
- Experience with electric vehicles, high voltage, or lithium-ion battery design desired.
- Proficiency in engineering principles including but not limited to structural mechanics, hydraulics, heat transfer, electricity, ergonomics, 3D CAD and data management.
- Proficiency in software applications including 3D CAD, Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Ability and willingness to travel, including international travel.
- Analytical capacity for creative problem-solving, process design and product application, design, and development.
- Risk management and cost analysis.
- Strong planning/scheduling and problem-solving experience. Prior data collection and analysis skills.
