Job Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Governance
Lead the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements for all legal entities under Modular Mining Systems, ensuring full compliance with US GAAP and internal corporate procedures. Ensure all ledger postings are complete, revenues accurately recognized, and balance sheet reconciliations are timely. Deliver high-quality reports that can withstand internal and external audit requirements.
Legal Compliance and Reporting
Manage statutory compliance through the correct preparation and filing of Business Activity Statements (BAS) for Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Pay As You Go (PAYG) tax obligations. Work closely with tax advisors to maintain adherence to Australian taxation laws and corporate governance directives.
Cost Accounting and Inventory Management
Oversee costing processes related to manufacturing and operational inventory. Monitor stock valuations, identify inventory variances, and conduct regular cycle counts and stocktakes. Provide detailed Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) analysis, margins, and profitability insights to support senior management decision-making and optimize working capital.
Accounts Receivable and Cash Flow Management
Supervise invoicing processes, ensuring accuracy in customer and intercompany billing. Lead proactive collection efforts to enhance cash flow and execute detailed cash flow forecasts to guide operational and financial planning.
Accounts Payable Oversight
Ensure efficient and accurate processing of vendor invoices, intercompany charges, and employee expenses. Maintain supplier payment schedules aligned with contractual terms, safeguarding vendor relationships and the supply chain's integrity.
Internal Controls and Continuous Improvement
Champion initiatives to assess and enhance internal financial controls, reducing risk exposure. Conduct regular testing and auditing to comply with JSOX standards. Lead root cause analyses following any control lapses and implement corrective actions to improve finance operations.
Capital Expenditure and Asset Management
Maintain and audit the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate recording and compliance with asset management policies. Monitor capital expenditure activities to uphold depreciation schedules and support precise financial reporting.
Leadership and Team Development
Provide strong leadership to the accounting team by mentoring and developing team members, promoting collaboration, accuracy, and continuous improvement. Support talent development strategies, succession planning, and foster a culture embedded in the company's values.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience in accounting roles that include team leadership and financial management, supported by appropriate tertiary qualifications and active membership in CPA or CA professional bodies.
- Deep knowledge of both accounts payable and receivable functions, demonstrating the ability to manage complex transactions within operationally demanding environments.
- Proven capability in mentoring and supervising accounting professionals to build a high-performance and collaborative team culture.
- Expertise in producing accurate and timely financial reports consistent with statutory requirements and internal corporate policies.
- Hands-on experience in cost accounting practices, including inventory management, valuation, and margin analysis within manufacturing or similarly complex sectors.
- Strong familiarity with US GAAP standards and international financial reporting principles applicable to multi-jurisdictional entities.
- In-depth understanding of JSOX compliance processes and the ability to perform and oversee internal control testing and auditing effectively.
- Thorough knowledge of Australian taxation legislation, with practical experience administering GST, PAYG, and related statutory reports.
- Technical proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, complemented by advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including financial modelling and data analysis techniques.
- Awareness of payroll compliance requirements to support integrated finance operations.
- Experience managing multi-currency financial transactions and foreign exchange valuations in global corporate environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
- A customer-focused approach emphasizing high-quality, precise financial processes and the drive for continual improvement.

- Familiarity with IFRS accounting standards, enhancing global financial reporting capabilities.
- Technical expertise in additional financial and data analytics software tools beyond ERP platforms and Excel.
