Job Overview
The Weld Shop Supervisor leads second or night-shift welding operations, providing daily direction, technical guidance, and workforce coordination employees. Our shop is focused on mining equipment such as booms, handles, dippers, frames, and more for our shovels, electric drive trucks, loaders, excavators, and more, providing dual shield 2G and 4G welds. This position is responsible for assigning labor to projects, monitoring job progress, introducing new work into the shop, and keeping department leadership informed of production status.
The ideal candidate is an experienced welding lead or supervisor who has successfully directed a workforce in a heavy manufacturing environment. This role requires more than strong individual welding ability. The successful candidate must be comfortable setting expectations, organizing manpower, developing employees, and holding the team accountable for safe, timely, and high-quality work.
The hours for this position are typically 1PM - 10PM.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Supervise shop crew from scheduling labor/parts to disciplinary issues.

Schedule labor hours and allocate manpower based on project requirements and production priorities.

Monitor work in progress and provide regular status updates to department leadership.

Set clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and job completion.

Provide employees with technical guidance and support when challenges arise.

Coordinate work across the shift to maintain production flow and meet project needs.
- Develop work scopes, time frames, parts, consumable and labor scheduling.
- Quote and bill all shop welding work directly to the customer.
- Settle customer disputes/discrepancies.
- Work closely with manager and accounting to maintain revenue income.
- Work closely with customer to meet their needs.
- Ensure maintenance of welding equipment.
- Evaluate each and every completed job to ensure quality and full work scope completion.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Very skilled certified welder that can understand and read blueprints, MOPs and follow a scope of work.
- Minimum 5 years welding experience on vast range of mining equipment
- 2+ years as a lead, supervisor, or manager.
- Strong understanding of OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Must be able to maintain customer relations.
- Must be able to understand the dollars side of the business to ensure profitability and utilization.
- Must be very organized to keep up with the labor force, man hours, consumables, parts, safety/DOT training and maintenance of all equipment.
