Job Overview

As a Shop Technician at Komatsu in Mesa, AZ, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of heavy machinery components through timely, precise repairs conducted within our well-equipped workshop environment. 

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical background who has worked on wheel motors, crowd motors, or spindles on Electric Drive Haul Trucks or Electric Shovels and wants to build a long-term career in heavy equipment repair and remanufacturing. Electrical experience is not required, as this role will focus on the mechanical side of the work while electrical portions are handled by the electric shop team.

This summer the job will will be based at our brand new facility by the Mesa Gateway Airport.

The current schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, but this could update in several months. 

Overtime may be available depending on workload.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical repair, inspection, disassembly, assembly, and rebuild work on heavy equipment components in the Shop
  • Work on mechanical portions of components related to electric drive haul trucks and electric shovels.
  • Support shop repair and remanufacturing work as assigned.Inspect components for wear, damage, or required repairs.
  • Use mechanical aptitude and shop experience to troubleshoot and complete assigned work.
  • Follow safety, quality, and shop procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with shop leadership and team members to complete jobs efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to the customer.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs.
  • Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
  • Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • MSHA Certification a Plus
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Mechanically and electrically inclined
  • Mechanical and Electrical tools a plus
