Job Overview
The Sales Engineer role at the Komatsu Equipment Company division offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the growth and success of our service and components sales, specifically focused on our mining equipment in the Southwest Region! This role is pivotal in fostering collaborative relationships internally with Sales and Service departments, as well as externally with our valued customers. Key Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Sales and Service teams to support and advance strategic initiatives that drive business growth and customer satisfaction.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to increase Service and Components sales within southern Arizona & California, expanding the customer base and strengthening existing relationships.
- Schedule and conduct comprehensive machine performance reviews, coordinating with customers around machine operations to assess conditions and recommend service or parts that enhance efficiency and uptime.
- Maintain a detailed, forward-looking tracking calendar to monitor service and equipment schedules over monthly, quarterly, and annual periods, ensuring timely interventions and continuous customer support.
- Develop new service relationships, leveraging strong interpersonal skills to connect with both longstanding clients and new prospects, fostering trust and long-term business partnerships.
- Consistently achieve or surpass targeted revenue goals by identifying innovative service solutions and upselling components aligned with customer needs.
- Work closely with customers to accurately define service order specifications, facilitate precise quoting processes, and collaborate with Account Managers to ensure seamless execution of orders.
- Prepare thorough documentation and scopes of work for major service contracts, ensuring clarity, compliance, and operational readiness.
- Investigate and resolve warranty claims promptly and fairly to maintain customer confidence and protect company reputation.
- Support the preparation and management of the Service Sales department budget, contributing insights and data to optimize resource allocation and financial planning.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Possess a degree or equivalent experience in a related technical or engineering field, complemented by at least five years of progressive experience addressing real-world challenges in the mining sector, especially in diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical issues on mining equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging and informative presentations to groups, effectively communicating complex service opportunities and technical solutions.
- Proficient in creating well-structured PowerPoint presentations and detailed Word documents tailored to support quotation and sales processes.
- Exhibit exceptional problem-solving capabilities, utilizing analytical skills to identify root causes and develop practical solutions that enhance machine performance and customer satisfaction.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of building lasting relationships with diverse customers and internal teams.
- Self-motivated with a service-oriented mindset, capable of working independently and collaboratively to meet and exceed business objectives.
- Experience with budgeting processes and financial oversight within a sales or service environment is advantageous.
- Familiarity with mining industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements will be highly beneficial
