Key Job Responsibilities

• Read drawings for required form or bobbin, number of turns, manner of winding, size and type wire, and placement of terminals. 
• Rewind various motors and armatures.
• Install coils on various motors and armatures.
• Create prints and drawings to assist with a standardized process.
• Operate multiple coil winding machines.
• Strip various rotors, armatures, and stators.
• Build and repair field frames.
• Train and teach other Winders various skills of the trade.
• Inspect, test, repair, re-insulate and rewind all phases of electrical apparatus with no supervision.
• Perform pre and final inspection reporting.


• Electro-mechanical background. This is a training and development opportunity for the candidate who has had solid exposure to the fundamentals of the winding process.
• Solid understanding of DC motor theory and AC motor theory.
• The ability to demonstrate a general technical understanding of Winding practices.
• Prior experience with re-winding prep work (i.e. stripping, cleaning, prepping armature cores, and stator cores)
• Experience with testing motors – High Pot search test, Bar to Bar test, etc . . .
• Prior experience working with a steam cleaner/component wash bay
• The ability to demonstrate and communicate the effectiveness and importance of safe work practices.
• A demonstrated understanding and commitment to safety in a regularly changing work environment.
• Knowledge and prior work experience with heavy off-highway construction and mining equipment.
• Experience working in environments utilizing electric high voltage (up to 7200 volts), diesel prime power, and motion components including hydraulic, electric, and pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge and experience with material handling and rigging of large / heavy steel components.
• Proven success working on teams diversified by background, applicable experience, and varying levels of knowledge within a variety of trades.
• The ability to maintain a flexible work schedule which could include early morning starts, late evenings, nights, weekends, and regular overnight stays.
