Job Overview

Manufacturing Engineering related activities including, but not limited to, processes, procedures, routing, manpower requirements, standards, layout, tooling/fixtures, equipment purchases that provide method improvements and cost reduction opportunities.  Coordinate capital plan projects, SVC generation and review, including improved process flow in Fabrication and Assembly through shipping operations as well as supporting material flow and systems from warehouse to line side delivery.  Purpose of this position is to support and foster continuous improvement of all aspects of all manufacturing processes at NMO.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Organize and control tooling and equipment purchases to improve methods and process flow for existing models and/or new models including designing small jigs and fixtures for improvements.
  • Review manufacturing routings to coordinate manufacturing flow and report proper costing and coordinate introduction of Engineering Change Notices.
  • Develop manpower requirements in all areas of the manufacturing to support changing production volumes and assist with proper manning levels.
  • Ensure sub-assembly and main line stations are balanced operations and standard times are reviewed for accuracy.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Methods, or Mechanical Engineering and 3 to 5 years’ experience in construction/heavy truck/equipment methods manufacturing, tool design, and related activities.
  • Knowledge of construction equipment (Wheel Loaders and Fork Lifts preferred).
  • Proficient with computer applications (Excel, Word, etc.). AUTOCAD, Pro-E, 2-D and 3-D experience.
  • Experience in assembly of large equipment on moving lines, including tooling, materials presentation, standards, and line balance.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to simultaneously work on many projects is required.
  • May sit for long periods of time.  Some standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
  • Must comply with all environmental, quality and safety rules, practices and standards.
  • Must project a cooperative and positive attitude toward customers, employees and the Company.
