Bring deep technical expertise to customer partnerships in crushing equipment and hard rock solutions
Komatsu Mining Technologies is seeking a highly knowledgeable Technical Specialist supporting our surface crushing and new underground loading product lines at key customers with expert product knowledge, practical technical advice and solutions that improve machine performance across mining, quarrying, extractive minerals and related industries.
This role requires strong knowledge of crushing machines and their applications, with the ability to translate technical insight into customer value. You will work closely with customers, account teams, service operations and technical support to identify needs, diagnose challenges and recommend solutions across equipment, wear parts, repairs, rebuilds, service and performance optimisation. Full training will be also provided on the emerging underground loading product lines, used in hard rock mines.
Combining hands-on technical credibility with a commercial mindset, you will help develop existing business, support sales strategies and convert technical opportunities into measurable outcomes that improve reliability, throughput, availability, wear life and whole-of-life equipment performance.
You will play a key role in supporting agreed sales targets and margin goals by building trusted relationships with customer stakeholders at all levels.
Key role functions
- Provide specialist technical support and product knowledge across Komatsu surface crushing and underground (hard rock) loading machines, applications, wear parts, rebuilds, repairs, service and performance optimisation
- Identify customer needs, diagnose equipment and process challenges, and recommend practical solutions that improve reliability, availability, throughput and component life
- Support agreed sales targets by developing technical strategies, account plans and margin growth opportunities for equipment solutions
- Proactively identify repair, rebuild, service, parts, manufacturing, predictive diagnostics and performance-enhancement opportunities within existing and new customer accounts
- Maximise customer-facing time and build trusted relationships with operations, maintenance, reliability, procurement and senior management stakeholders
What you bring
- Trade qualifications as a diesel fitter
- Strong technical knowledge of surface crushing machines, applications and product support requirements
- Demonstrated experience in a technical specialist, product support, service, application, technical sales or key account role within mining, quarrying or heavy industry
- The ability to understand crushing process challenges, equipment performance, wear, reliability, availability and whole-of-life cost considerations
- Commercial awareness and the ability to support sales targets, margins, forecasts and opportunity pipelines
- Confidence engaging with customer stakeholders across operations, maintenance, reliability, procurement and commercial functions
- A proactive approach to identifying repair, rebuild, service, parts, manufacturing and performance improvement opportunities
- Strong communication, problem-solving, influencing and technical advisory skills across internal and external stakeholders
- A collaborative style and willingness to work closely with sales, marketing, account management, service and technical support teams
- Willingness to travel (within Australia, NZ, New Caledonia and PNG) as required.
