Job Overview
Komatsu is seeking a hands-on Quality Control Supervisor to lead day-to-day QA/QC operations for incoming, in-process, and final inspections. This role plays a vital part in maintaining product integrity, enforcing company standards, and ensuring compliance with both internal procedures and customer specifications.
As a frontline leader, the Quality Control Supervisor will oversee a team of inspectors and technicians, drive execution of inspection protocols, and support broader quality initiatives by collaborating with engineering, procurement, and operations.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate quality inspection teams across manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and release protocols for incoming materials, in-process products, and final assemblies.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to guide inspection activities.
- Assist with execution and documentation of non-conformance reporting (NCR and SAP), first article inspections, and deviation approvals.
- Maintain traceability, calibration, and document control systems.
- Support root cause analysis and failure investigations in collaboration with engineering, warranty, and metallurgical teams.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to inspection staff.
- Monitor inspection procedures to ensure they meet internal quality management systems (QMS) and support ISO and customer audit readiness.
- Collaborate with purchasing and suppliers to address quality issues and support SCAR resolutions.
- Enforce safety standards and maintain clean, organized work areas in accordance with site policies.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s or technical degree preferred; bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.
- 3–5 years of quality assurance or control experience in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 1 year of team lead or supervisory experience.
Technical Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of inspection methods, tools, and quality standards.
- Experience with material traceability, deviation processes, and documentation control.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
- Proficient in interpreting blueprints and specifications.
Preferred Certifications:
- AWS CWI or ASNT Level II in MT/PT/UT is a plus.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean principles is an advantage.
Soft Skills:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional activities and support process improvements.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
Additional Information
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and interaction with mechanical parts and equipment.
- Occasional exposure to noise, temperature variations, and airborne particles in the shop environment.
- Use of computer, inspection tools, and standard office equipment throughout the day.
