Job Overview
Komatsu is currently recruiting for a Heat Treat Operator position in our Longview, Texas facility.
Key Job Responsibilities
Work safely and be an advocate for Safety.
- Assist with operation, control and monitoring of heat treating and related equipment.
- Prepare parts for processing (Cleaning & Masking)
- Load and unload furnaces, baskets, trays, fixtures.
- Able to follow written procedures on shop orders.
- Bring any irregularities or non-conformities to the attention of leader or management.
- Promote safety and good housekeeping practices.
- Assist with performing equipment maintenance as necessary.
- Perform other tasks as assigned or stated by position.
- Determine furnaces temperatures, current frequencies, heating cycles, induction heating, coils needed based on degree of hardness required and properties of parts to be treated.
- Record times that parts are removed from furnaces to document that parts have attained specified temperatures for specified times.
- Determine types and temperatures of baths and quenching media needed to attain specified part hardness, toughness, and ductility, using heat-treating charts and knowledge of methods, equipment, and metals.
- Examine parts to ensure metal shades and colors conform to specifications, using knowledge of metal heat-treating.
- Adjust controls to maintain temperatures and heating times, using thermal instruments and charts, dials and gauges of furnaces, and color of parts in furnaces to make setting determinations.
- Read production schedules and work orders to determine processing sequences, furnace temperatures, and heat cycle requirements for parts to be heat-treated.
- Clean oxides and scales from parts or fittings, using steam sprays, pressure washer or chemicals and water baths.
- Conduct hardness inspection of material and record on the process sheet
- Complete equipment maintenance and inspection check list daily
- Adhere to all site and company rules, regulations, and PPE requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Entry level position. HS diploma or GED required.
- Able to operate a forklift.
- Able to access and understand computer, work instructions and procedures.
- Able to operate various equipment and tools within the department including
- hardness testers.

Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $NA. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
