Job Overview

The Junior Product Manager, Loaders and Trucks is a technical marketing based position.  The role will be responsible to work with the underground hard rock broader product team and global Komatsu product distribution teams to support voice of customer and market based intelligence as it relates to assigned product line.  They will also be responsible to provide product feedback from the Komatsu regional product distribution team to the hard rock product engineering teams in consideration of product upgrades and new designs.  This position will be reporting to the Senior Product Manager, Loaders and Trucks and is ideal for a mechanical or mining engineering graduate with mining product exposure.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provide product application and specification guidance to hard rock design engineering, commercial and regional sales and service teams as required in support of product development and sales.
  • Conduct market research, competitive intelligence efforts to ensure market-driven product direction is achieved.
  • Maintain & establish relationships with new and existing customers and Komatsu region distribution teams to educate and promote product lines and services.
  • Liaise with technical product support, design engineering, technical publications and training and commercial teams to advance regional product introduction plans and support the development and deployment of marketing materials and events, customer product demonstrations and trials, product training and delivery.
  • Advise design engineering, quality, manufacturing and purchasing departments of technical issues, potential solutions or product enhancements to mitigate negative impact and protect or grow the overall business. 
  • Support commercial and aftermarket teams with market product introductions through planning, training, program development as required.
  • Identify and execute on potential process improvements (i.e. Sales Forecast, Pricing, Product Development, Product Configuration, VOC, VOB, etc.).
  • Drive initiatives focused on defining the product value for marketing and sales training and literature.  (i.e. Field Studies, TCO modeling, etc.).

Qualifications/Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required with strong business acumen and marketing exposure.
  • 2+ years of experience working with mining technologies and applications.
  • Direct LHD & Truck mining/equipment application experience is desired
  • Knowledge of the underground hard rock market in mining operations is desired.
  • Must have excellent communication and public speaking skills with an ability to demonstrate confidence in material knowledge and convey product information to a broad audience with varying levels of product capability.
  • Technical aptitude and experience with market analysis, sales forecasting exposure is desired.
  • Strong computer skills with ability to prepare data metrics, sales presentations, training materials.
  • Ability to travel globally to customer sites and Komatsu Mining sales offices, dealers offices.
  • Ability to work underground as required.
  • Fluid in English, oral and written.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the Unites States.
