Job Overview

Join Komatsu, a leader in industrial manufacturing, as an Engineering Administrative Specialist based in our Longview, Texas location. This pivotal role supports the dynamic Factory Engineering team. You will serve as a central figure facilitating smooth communication and coordination between engineering leadership, technical staff, and other cross-functional groups. Your expertise will enhance the operational efficiency of engineering projects through meticulous administrative support, process organization, and document control. Reporting within the Joy Global Longview Ops legal entity and operating closely with the Engineering Business Unit, you will engage in diverse activities ranging from engineering change coordination to project timeline management, ensuring all stakeholders have access to accurate, up-to-date information. Your role will empower engineering teams to deliver quality solutions by streamlining administrative workflows, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining robust data integrity in critical systems such as SAP and PLM platforms.

Key Job Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Support and Coordination:
    • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Factory Engineering team, aiding in the seamless execution of engineering projects.
    • Coordinate engineering change requests and orders (ECR/ECO), ensuring timely routing, approval tracking, and communication to relevant teams.
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of project plans, monitor key milestones and deliverables, and facilitate cross-functional meetings including design reviews and strategy sessions.
  • Documentation and Data Management:
    • Maintain and organize critical engineering documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions with high accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Manage data integrity within enterprise systems such as SAP and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, ensuring consistent and reliable information for project execution.
    • Oversee proper revision control protocols, distribute updated documents to stakeholders, and support bill of materials (BOM) updates and validations.
  • Cross-Functional Communication:
    • Serve as a liaison bridging engineering with production, quality assurance, and supply chain teams, fostering collaboration and clear information flow.
    • Track progress and status of engineering change implementations and handle requests ensuring issue resolution through coordinated efforts.
  • Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to enhance administrative processes, streamline documentation workflows, and improve engineering support functions.
    • Develop and promote standardized templates, best practices, and documentation methods to increase operational efficiency.
    • Participate actively in lean initiatives and continuous improvement projects to support sustainable enhancements within the Factory Engineering department.

Qualifications/Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

Educational Background:

  • Minimum completion of high school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Business Administration, or related fields is advantageous.

Professional Experience:

  • At least 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience providing document control, engineering administration, or broad support within supply chain operations.
  • Familiarity with interpreting and managing engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), and other critical technical documentation is essential.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional organizational abilities complemented by meticulous attention to detail to manage multiple documentation and project support activities effectively.
  • Proficiency with document management systems (DMS) and secure digital portals such as SharePoint, BIM 360, or Autodesk Construction Cloud is highly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills facilitating efficient collaboration across diverse team members and stakeholders.
  • Capability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent responsibilities in a fast-paced and evolving work environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating events, meetings, and administrative tasks effectively.
  • Excellent computer literacy with sound skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PDF management tools.
  • Understanding of procurement processes, including quote processing and purchase order requisition creation.

Additional Information

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience supporting engineering or procurement teams within a manufacturing or industrial environment is an advantage.
  • Understanding of procurement life cycles, vendor engagement practices, and request for quote (RFQ) processes strengthens candidacy.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality management standards and industry best practices related to document control and compliance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Automate for workflow creation and process automation is valued.
  • Familiarity with SAP ERP systems and the ability to reconcile purchases against multiple budgets enhances operational effectiveness.
