Job Overview

We are currently hiring a Category Manager to support our Longview, TX operations. This position is responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and procurement functions across assigned categories, ensuring optimal cost, quality, and delivery standards in alignment with company policy and performance goals

Key Job Responsibilities

 

Manage sourcing activities across Komatsu North America by identifying and qualifying suppliers to meet OE and Aftermarket requirements under SLQDC principles, ensuring productivity, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement

 

  • Develop and implement commodity sourcing strategies based on market trends, raw materials, technology, and long-term plans. Lead supplier negotiations and oversee RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes.

  • Conduct global category analysis and “Should Cost” modeling to optimize cost decisions.

  • Research industries to identify qualified suppliers, benchmark best practices, and lead collaborative category strategy discussions aligned with business objectives.

  • Manage supplier contracts and foster partnerships to enhance financial performance, reduce costs, improve quality, and ensure on-time delivery.

  • Monitor supply markets, commodity trends, and cost models to stay competitive.

  • Standardize contracts and purchase agreements to align with business strategies.

  • Support short- and long-term cost reduction goals by developing and driving action plans.

  • Evaluate supplier performance metrics, risk analysis, and execute corrective actions when needed.

  • Continuously assess the supply base for quality, pricing, capacity, and market competitiveness.

  • Travel globally to supplier sites for opportunity identification, efficiency improvements, and issue resolution, including new supplier development and ongoing supplier management.

Qualifications/Requirements

 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or Business is highly preferred. Associate degree in combination with relevant experience in Purchasing, Materials or Engineering background with specialized knowledge on focused group of commodities can also be considered.
• 5+ years of relevant working experience in Electrical Categories . Must possess analytical/critical thinking skills.
• Experience working in an ERP environment (SAP a plus). MS Office aptitude. Systems skills with SAP, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Aribia is a preference.
• Knowledge of Supply Chain programs (Consignment, Kanban, JIT, VMI, Lean, CI, etc.) and ability to manage project execution of these programs.
• Role requires broad knowledge and good experience with Commodities (Mechanical-type Hardware {Vendor Managed Programs} is highly preferred). Experience in Category or Commodity Management with steel, castings and forgings in addition to strong negotiation skills, demonstration of supplier relationship management and leadership capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and being self-motivated are also components of this Role.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills (written and verbal) with a strong focus on customer service. Strong relational skills, ability to work with all departments, foster teamwork and a positive work environment.
• CPIM, CSCP or CPM Certification are a plus.
• This will be a hybrid role with 4 days in the office and 1 remote .

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $NA. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
