Job Overview

 

Komatsu is currently recruiting for a Safety Lead position in our Longview, Texas facility.

Key Job Responsibilities

 

Work safely and be an advocate for Safety.

  • Conduct Hearing tests for supported area
  • Support departmental leadership in communicating safety topics for area supported
  • MBWA Findings and reporting/action items--taking notes, create action items, and follow-up on findings
  • Velocity Actions Support--study statistical data and report out with action items
  • Training Practicals--conducting specific practical training/demos with employees
  • Watch-One process--review and evaluate deliverables
  • JSA/SWI Devlopment
  • Assesses, advises and consults with supervisors and others engaged in planning, designing, development, construction, installation or modification of equipment and facilities to eliminate or minimize hazards to personnel and to comply with appropriate governmental standards and insurance carrier recommendations.
  • Initiates participative employee teams to improve safety program.
  • Maintains current knowledge of and develops programs to be in compliance with OSHA, NIOSH, and other government or insurance company regulations. This is accomplished by contact with local, state and national organizations, insurance carrier representatives and governmental bodies to provide necessary updating.
  • Strong presence on operations floor providing support to designated departments
  • Approximately 70% / 30% – Operations on floor / Administrative

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • Associates Degree in Occupational Safety and 5 or more years’ hands-on experience in manufacturing or equivalent education/experience
  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the safety function within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to understand all forms of manufacturing machinery and process.
  • Be familiar with all OSHA regulations as well as Environmental that impact their area of assignment.
  • Excellent computer skills, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, required.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Bilingual - English & Spanish.
