Job Overview

The Quality Manager sets the quality strategy for Hard Rock's operations and products, aligning it with market demands, customer expectations, and business needs. Working with department leaders, this role implements actions to boost efficiency, quality, and productivity, aiming to enhance customer satisfaction and lower costs. Additionally, the role ensures compliance with quality standards and customer requirements by managing quality policies, procedures, programs, and practices.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements quality processes within the hard rock division to enhance business performance and customer satisfaction. This covers internal and third-party engineering drawing quality and product quality.
  • Coordinates staff across different disciplines to plan and agree on comprehensive quality procedures.
  • Establishes a system to identify root causes and eliminate recurring issues. Implements visual quality across all business functions to drive efficiency improvements.
  • Maps out quality processes accurately to ensure consistent practices among team members. Identifies risks and opportunities in quality-related processes and develops mitigation strategies. Maintains records to show quality management performance and an effective corrective/preventive action system.
  • Prepares productivity/quality reports for management and enforces a strong product quality program from proposal to project closeout. Implements project closeout processes to integrate lessons learned.
  • Manages the company’s inspection and product release programs for incoming/in-process materials and finished goods, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, quality policy, company standards, regulatory, and external standards. Validates quality processes by establishing specifications, measuring production, and updating procedures.
  • Oversees the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for designated parts.
  • Oversees quality functions like inspections, analysis, and training. Make final decisions on non-conforming materials and monitor employee adherence to quality standards. Enhances inspection methods, equipment performance, product quality, efficiency, and morale. Ensures vendor compliance with pre-qualifications and material quality requirements.
  • Aligns quality processes and tools across North American Underground Hard Rock production facilities.
  • Leads the ISO program by ensuring compliance with standards, coordinating audits, and driving continuous improvement. Develop and implement policies, train staff, and collaborate with departments to achieve and maintain certification.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant overall experience with 5 years specifically in Project Management or Quality, within a manufacturing or industrial related environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in quality, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • PMI Project Management or 6S Quality certification preferred
  • Significant knowledge of supply chain management and quality processes.
  • Fluent with ISO quality standards and models.
  • Technical aptitude, good understanding of hydraulic and electrical system design.
  • Ability to take broad business concepts and apply them to specific practical work processes and documentation.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing engineering and assembly processes.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines when required.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills, high attention to detail.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office software.
  • Personable with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer-focused.
  • Certified internal auditor is an asset.
