Job Overview

Join Hardrock as a Manufacturing Engineer and help shape the future of mining equipment production. In this hands-on role, you’ll design and optimize manufacturing processes and tooling, ensuring scalable, safe, and efficient assembly of complex electromechanical systems. Collaborating with design, quality, and supply chain teams, you’ll lead capacity planning and drive continuous improvement initiatives that support growth and operational excellence.

We’re looking for a proactive problem-solver with strong technical expertise and a passion for innovation. You’ll also work with external partners to integrate cutting-edge technologies and keep Hardrock at the forefront of industrial manufacturing.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with operations and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) teams to nurture and enhance a robust safety culture, implementing proactive measures for risk mitigation in manufacturing environments.
  • Support production teams during the assembly phases of capital equipment projects, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting to ensure seamless build processes and adherence to project timelines.
  • Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing and assembly lines tailored for hard rock mining products.
  • Create, document, and continuously refine assembly-line work instructions and process standards for new and existing product lines to maximize efficiency and reduce production errors.
  • Work collaboratively with multifunctional teams across product development cycles, integrating manufacturing feasibility reviews, supply chain technical support, and production planning to facilitate smooth transition from prototype through mass production.
  • Engage with industry peers, suppliers, and specialized organizations to research new manufacturing process technologies and tooling approaches, promoting innovation within the manufacturing domain.
  • Develop and validate tooling, assembly fixtures, and test equipment, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to meet technical and quality requirements.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering development, and planning teams, including cost estimation and feasibility analysis during product quoting processes.
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma principles and project management methodologies to drive process improvements, reduce waste, and optimize manufacturing workflows across facilities.
  • Foster cross-departmental communication to ensure alignment on production goals, process changes, and quality standards, reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Possess a university degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline, demonstrating a strong foundation in engineering principles relevant to manufacturing.
  • Bring a minimum of three years experience in manufacturing engineering within complex, large-scale industrial assembly or fabrication environments, showcasing an ability to manage challenging production contexts.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks, capable of interpreting and creating detailed manufacturing and tooling designs to support production needs.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of diverse manufacturing processes, including assembly workflows, tooling validation, and process optimization techniques.
  • Experience working with Bill of Materials (BOM), Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, Engineering Change Notices (ECN), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), ensuring meticulous documentation and process control.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems to manage project documentation, reporting, and cross-functional communications effectively.
  • Familiarity with project management practices and software to lead initiatives with structured planning, risk management, and execution tracking.
  • Exemplify leadership qualities and work collaboratively within teams, promoting creativity, innovation, and constructive problem-solving.
  • Self-driven and articulate communicator with strong written and verbal skills to effectively prepare detailed technical reports and deliver impactful presentations to various stakeholders.
  • Practical knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies, with the ability to apply continuous improvement tools to enhance manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for leading team efforts and communicating across organizational levels to foster a unified approach toward achieving manufacturing efficiency and excellence.
  • Strong analytical mindset and adept problem-solving abilities to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions in complex manufacturing settings.
