Job Overview

Reporting to the Technical Publications Supervisor, you'll transform complex engineering data into precise, user-friendly parts manuals that drive aftermarket sales and support global service teams. Using industry-standard design and data management tools, you'll create detailed illustrations, manage bills of materials, and collaborate with vendors to deliver high-impact documentation. Your work ensures fast, accurate access to parts information—keeping our underground mining equipment performing at its best. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Parts Data Management

    • Maintain, update, import, and manually enter parts Bills of Materials (BOMs) into the Publisher system.
    • Set up new aftermarket BOM part numbers in SAP.
  • Manual Publishing

    • Publish parts manuals to the online portal.
    • Maintain PDF versions for print distribution.
  • Vendor Collaboration

    • Communicate with vendors to obtain parts breakdowns.
    • Create parts pages for purchased items using vendor-supplied materials.
  • Engineering Change Integration

    • Review and track Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
    • Apply required updates to parts manuals based on ECNs.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination

    • Collaborate with other Komatsu teams to ensure alignment and consistency across parts manuals.
  • Technical Illustration Support

    • Assist technical publications staff with creating and updating illustrations using SolidWorks or SolidWorks Composer.

Qualifications/Requirements

Educaiton & Experience

  • Technical certification or diploma in mechanical or electrical fields including Technologist, Engineer or Technical Writer.
  • Experience with mobile industrial equipment is considered an asset.
  • Experience in SolidWorks is considered an asset.

Functional Competencies

  • Knowledge of 3D animation, graphic design principles, HTML/programming, database functions are all beneficial.
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings with ability to read and interpret equipment schematics.
  • Good understanding of bill of material structures and engineering/manufacturing processes.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and driven to achieve customer satisfaction goals and targets.
  • Superior customer relations and active listening skills.
