Job Overview
Lead the team that keeps the underground world moving. If you’re a service leader who thrives on solving problems, developing people, and delivering exceptional support to customers, this role puts you at the center of Komatsu’s Field Services operation in Sudbury. You’ll build a high‑performing team, strengthen customer relationships, and drive safe, consistent, high‑quality service execution across some of the most demanding mining environments in the world.
Reports to: Regional Operations Manager
Shift: Monday-Friday
Safety Sensitive: Yes- drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required
Travel: up to 30-50%
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the Sudbury Field Services business with a focus on safety, quality, customer support, and operational performance
- Oversee field service execution across customer sites, including underground work, planned repairs, and commissioning
- Ensure all service work is properly planned, supported, documented, and closed to Komatsu standards
- Provide leadership to field technicians, underground techs, vendors, and service support staff
- Drive a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, risk assessments, and consistent safe‑work practices
- Maintain service quality by ensuring accurate troubleshooting, repairs, commissioning, and customer follow‑up
- Build strong customer relationships by managing service concerns, breakdowns, warranty issues, and technical escalations
Leadership and Operations Expectations
- Collaborate with Service Administration, Account Managers, WHS, CSR, vendors, and customers to deliver a consistent service experience
- Oversee manpower planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for field service work
- Manage field truck fleet readiness, including maintenance, inspections, tooling, and safe utilization
- Ensure all training records, certifications, and H&S requirements are current
- Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and technician development
- Communicate regularly with the Operations Manager on safety, staffing, customer issues, utilization, and business risks
- Champion Field Services as a business unit and contribute to the growth of the underground service department
Qualifications/Requirements
- Journeyperson certification in Heavy Equipment Technician, Millwright, or Electrician ticket required, Red Seal preferred
- 5+ years of leadership experience in field service, maintenance, or service management
- Strong understanding of underground mining equipment and field service operations
- Proven ability to lead service execution, manage quality, and support customers in high‑demand environments
- Safety‑focused leader with experience guiding toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safe‑work practices
- Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities
- Valid driver’s license and ability to access all mine sites
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) required, and experience with SAP an asset
