Job Overview

The Financial Analyst supports the review and analysis of standard costs for hard rock original equipment and aftermarket parts, as well as costing-related fields in SAP. The role involves analyzing production order variances, partnering with various departments to provide accurate and timely cost estimates, and ensuring general ledger accounts and financial statements are analyzed and reconciled monthly. Additionally, the Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting purchase price variance analysis, developing and monitoring labor and burden rates, and ensuring internal controls and corporate procedures are followed for fixed asset accounting.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Support the review and analysis of standard costs for all hard rock original equipment and aftermarket parts and costing-related fields in SAP.
  • Analyze production order variances for Hard Rock Sudbury operations and work with production management to identify root causes of variances. 
  • Partner with new product development groups to provide accurate and timely cost estimates.
  • Partner with key members of the organization in Make vs Buy analysis.
  • Develop and monitor labor and burden rates for Hard Rock Sudbury operations.
  • Support the purchase price variance analysis for Sudbury and effectively communicate the results to Management.
  • Ensure general ledger accounts and financial statements are analyzed and reconciled on a monthly basis for Hard Rock Sudbury Operations.
  • Ensure internal controls and corporate procedures are followed for fixed asset accounting and reports are generated and maintained for Hard Rock Sudbury Operations.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Support for standard cost accounting system for Hard Rock Sudbury locations. 
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and weekly and monthly reports and charts.
  • Monitor, research, and resolve issues related to credits due from vendors .
  • Provide support for various cost center budgeting and assist in developing/calculating labor and burden rates. 
  • Assist with appropriation request creation, ensure asset controls are in place and provide post audit AR reviews.
  • Generate and maintain fixed asset reports and analyze purchase price variances.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting/ commerce.  CGA and/or CPA preferred or in progress.
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing/ industrial operational account processes and operations.
  • Previous project management experience an asset.
  • May be required to travel up to 10% of the time for training or meetings.
