Job Overview
If you have experience with drilling and bolting equipment maintenance and operation and have an interest in the mechanics behind the the rock drill and would love to travel globally in support of mining customers this role is ideal for you. Reporting to the Global Product Support & Reliability Manager, Komatsu is searching for a Factory Technical Support Specialist, Drilling Retrofits who will responsible provide expert technical service assistance in installation and training on Montabert drifter conversions and Timberock feed systems to Komatsu distribution service teams and customers around the world.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical service assistance in installation and training to Komatsu distributor service teams and customers to ensure proper operation, maintenance and troubleshooting practices of Montabert drifters and Timberock feed systems.
- Provides technical support to end users, operators, and regional/dealer service personnel in cases of complex technical issues.
- Assists with customer product demonstrations, field-testing and trials of new and improved products for Montabert drifters and Timberock feed systems at customer sites for data collection and to ensure safe and efficient operation by the customer.
- Provides relevant feedback to factory to enable improvements to the equipment or its operation.
- Provides assistance in compiling accurate data to process warranty claims and engineering machine improvements.
- Reviews spare parts recommendations and develops accuracy of Machine Life Operating Costs (MLOC).
- Assists in the training of distributors/dealers as applicable.
- Completes accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports as applicable.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Technical certification or diploma in mechanical field
- 7 years extensive experience with hard rock mining equipment, minimum 2 years of experience with drills/drifter conversions
- Demonstrated ability in key aspects of technical troubleshooting and life cycle management reporting
- Knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret equipment schematics
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to facilitate technical training and impart detailed information
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible, self-motivated and driven to achieve customer satisfaction goals and targets
- Good computer literacy
- Ability to work varied shift schedule in underground environment when required
- Ability to travel as required with valid passport and driver’s license
- Bilingualism with English proficiency is required
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada is required.
