Job Overview

As an Electrical Apprentice, you will play a vital role in the production of durable and high-quality heavy mobile mining equipment. You will be responsible for the accurate assembly and installation of electrical harnesses, contributing directly to the reliability and performance of mining machinery.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical harnesses with precision using hand tools and specialized equipment, ensuring compliance with engineering schematics and manufacturing standards.
  • Install, route, and secure electrical components and wiring within heavy mobile mining equipment, adhering strictly to safety protocols and quality benchmarks.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, sketches, and detailed instructions to accurately carry out assembly tasks.
  • Participate in rotating through various work cells and assembly stations to acquire a broad range of skills and understand different aspects of the manufacturing process.
  • Meet and strive to exceed daily production and delivery targets by efficiently managing assigned scopes of work within established time frames.
  • Conduct thorough inspection and functional testing of assembled electrical components to detect faults or non-conformances early in the production cycle.
  • Perform troubleshooting, adjustments, repairs, and replacements as necessary to ensure final products meet quality and operational specifications.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and peers to develop and refine assembly test procedures aimed at maximizing product quality and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, including logging all assembly activities and test results in compliance with company procedures and standards.
  • Uphold workplace safety by monitoring equipment function, reporting defects or hazards promptly, and contributing to a clean and organized work environment.
  • Engage proactively in continuous learning opportunities and apply new knowledge to enhance workmanship and productivity.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a 309A or 442A electrical license is highly desirable, demonstrating commitment to professional development.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with mining industry-specific equipment or in a closely related electrical assembly role.
  • Solid understanding of mobile electrical systems, including wiring, harnesses, connectors, and their integration within heavy machinery.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex equipment schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through technical challenges methodically.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team environment while maintaining a strong focus on individual accountability.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for clear written and verbal communication, including competent use of standard computer applications relevant to documentation and reporting.
  • Motivated, flexible, and customer-oriented mindset, driven to meet and exceed production quality and delivery goals.
  • Willingness and ability to work varied shifts, including nights, to support continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Eagerness to learn new technical skills and adapt to evolving manufacturing practices and technologies.

Compensation Range

At Komatsu, base pay is just one part of a comprehensive total compensation package designed to support and reward our employees. 

For this role, the annual base compensation range is $25.00 to $29.00 CAD. The final offer will be determined based on several factors, including the candidates' skills, experience, qualifications, and the position location.
