Job Overview

The Technical Training Content Developer will work as part of a multi-functional aftermarket team to develop mobile mining equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and product technical training.  Training program development will include general mechanical aptitude development and product specific technical training.  Training will be developed in collaboration with a product subject matter experts and technical trainers to be delivered as instructor led, online, e-learning and simulation.  Position will work with products at Komatsu facilities as well as customer sites to become a subject matter expert as they develop training content.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop general mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting training programs to support the learning and development of Komatsu service representatives around the world with different skill levels and abilities;
  • Develop equipment technical product and operator training programs and materials related to underground loaders, trucks, drills and bolters product lines for service respresentative and customer maintenance mechanic audiences of different skill levels and abilities;
  • Obtain information needed to prepare training programs and materials by working with subject matter experts in design and application engineering, commercial and technical support teams;
  • Work cross functionally to create technical operations, safety, installation, and maintenance documentations from scratch using schematics, drawings, and subject matter expert interviews;
  • Work cross functionally to develop trainings in time for new product launches;
  • Develop technical training progam content, guides, evaluations for instructor led, e-learning, online delivery. Simulator delivery using training softwares, e-learning software, powerpoint and other tools as required.
  • Develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities;
  • Evaluate vendors and plan external technical training development support;
  • Ensures training is in line with relevant health and safety legislation and regulations;
  • Ensure training meets Komatsu quality standards and fulfills knowledge outcome requirements;
  • Maintains proper training documentation databases for all training participants;
  • Evaluate and implement training updates, new technologies, communication systems and tools to ensure training is innovative and relevant;
  • May be required to travel to customer sites to learn about product systems in real applications, record videos for training content.


  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) or mechanical tradesman;
  • Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of mining or heavy equipment including diesel or BEV equipment;
  • Experience facilitating training on technical equipment;
  • Proficiency in designing and creating training programs and materials;
  • Experience with photo and video editing;
  • Knowledge of instructional design with previous exposure to technical modularized learning experiences across instructor-led and eLearning modalities;
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain mechanical drawings, hydraulic and electrical schematics;
  • Ability to operate mining equipment is an asset;
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate abstract or technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Ability to independently scope and run multiple, concurrent projects;

Additional Information

Other Requirements:

  • Completion of underground mine access certifications in compliance with government and industry standards as applicable;
  • Ability to travel as required globally with valid passport and driver’s license;
  • Ability to work in an underground environment as required;
  • Verbal and written English language is required.
