We are currently looking to add an Aftermarket Engineer to our Hard Rock Group at our Sudbury, Ontario location.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Supporting machinery refurbishment, upgrade, and prioritize activity by developing technical scope for service activities in both the field and the company’s service centers.  Work with the service team to execute said scope, including performing detailed design engineering of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems;
  • For product field issues participate in Root Cause Analyses and developing technical reports and summaries for customers including material analysis, failure analysis, component improvement investigations;
  • Acting as a primary technical point of contact to Technical Support Team, including troubleshooting.  Act as main point of contact between technical support and design engineering team to redirect information or support requests promptly to design engineering when appropriate.  Ensure customer concerns remains priority for resolution;
  • Support requests for obsolete or discontinued products, parts, components.  Ensure request for support is approved and provide alternative resolutions to support customer including replacement parts;
  • Supporting the aftermarket proposal team in developing and reviewing technical scope and cost for repairs and field services;
  • Support the Technical Resolution Coordinator with bulletins and working with vendors on product technical clarification requirements;
  • Providing on-site customer support when necessary; will involve both planned and unplanned activities;
  • Reverse engineering of components in field, if/when required;
  • Develop Service, Upgrade, PM Kit assemblies;
  • Work with Design Engineering Team and vendors on specialized aftermarket options requests; Ensure product resolution proposals meet applicable safety standards and requirements and provide for the best serviceability in the field;
  • Participate as member of PRRB team in relation to aftermarket product solutions;
  • Participate as part of LCM review team to develop and improve final product LCMs;
  • Working closely with product engineers to allow for effective and efficient transfer of product and technical knowledge; and
  • Supporting continuous improvement efforts focused on improving reliability and customer value, demonstrating exceptional responsiveness and work ethic in supporting customers to meet deadlines and expectations.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
  • 3 or more years with design of underground hardrock equipment;
  • Good troubleshooting ability;
  • Fully competent with 3D CAD design, preferably Solidworks;
  • Experienced in weldment design and stress analysis;
  • Understanding of Bill of Materials and MRP systems/ ECN / NCR;
  • Experienced with Microsoft office software and ERP systems;
  • Experienced with project management methodologies and software;
  • Strong communication skills to work with sales teams, dealers and customers on product issue resolution;
  • High level of initiative with ability to work independently and as part of a broader team;
  • Knowledgeable in fluid mechanics and electrics; and/or
  • MSHA, Norcat or applicable mine site access certifications.
