Job Overview
The fabrication welder is responsible for assembling and welding heavy mining equipment components to precise specifications, ensuring structural integrity and safety. This role supports production goals by interpreting blueprints, operating welding machinery, and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. The welder helps play a role in delivering durable, high-performance products that meet Komatsu’s commitment to excellence.
Key Job Responsibilities
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to accurately fabricate components according to engineering specifications
Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on various metals including steel and alloy materials used in mining equipment.
Set up and operate welding equipment and fabrication tools, including grinders, torches, and plasma cutters, ensuring proper calibration and safety.
Inspect welds and finished components for quality, strength, and compliance with company and industry standards
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot fabrication issues and ensure timely completion of projects
Maintain a clear and organized work area, adhere to safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment
Document work performed and materials used supporting traceability and production reporting requirements
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of welding experience in manufacturing or industrial setting. Completing of a certified welding program or apprenticeship (MIG, TIG, Stick). Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and welding symbols
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
Familiarity with welding safety practices and OSHA regulations
Basic math and measurement skills
Ability to operate fabrication tools such as grinders, plasma cutters, and torches
Good communication and teamwork skills
Experience with heavy equipment or mining machinery components
Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet production deadlines
Able to work any shift
Able to work weekends
Able to work overtime
