Job Overview

Develop strategic sales objectives in conjunction with Global Komatsu Soft Rock leadership, establish sales distribution channels and quotas, manage budgets, and evaluate sales performance.

Managing the opportunity process, including account planning, and effective opportunity management.

The position will be based at Emalahleni or Secunda and the incumbent will report to the Director Marketing Service and Sales, with dotted line reporting to Senior Service and Sales Manager.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Particular focus on new and existing customers and diversification of customer base into non traditional minerals / commodities including Account Management;
  • Develop strategic sales objectives in conjunction with Global Komatsu Soft Rock leadership, establish sales distribution channels and quotas, manage budgets, and evaluate sales performance. Prepare, review, and monitor short- and long-term sales strategies, sales forecasts, expense budgets;
  • Implement market sales and service strategy in the region based on market analysis. This includes defining the customer base, all opportunities, market potential, customer buying criteria and support requirements and any geographical or geopolitical barriers that may be encountered;
  • Work closely with Global Komatsu Soft Rock leadership and regional Product Management to help define product plans, influence NPD (New Product Development), complete market studies based on the regional market indicators and influencers;
 
  • Managing the opportunity process, including account planning, and effective opportunity management;
  • Contract negotiation;

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A Technical degree is required as a minimum, Mechanical, Electrical or Mining Engineering preferred;
  • At least three to five years Sales or Marketing experience in Mining is essential;
  • Must have eight to twelve years of Engineering/Operations management experience within Mining/Engineering environment;
  • Must be computer literate with a sound knowledge of MS Suite;
  • A strong project management aptitude with operational experience;
  • Experience with Komatsu Soft Rock products and exposure to an underground environment is considered an asset;
  • A good understanding of engineering design and manufacturing principles is required;
  • Experience with Komatsu Soft Rock products and exposure to an underground environment is considered an asset;
  • Must have good written and verbal communications and presentation skills;
  • Ability to formulate objectives and priorities and implement plans.

 

Additional Information

  • Must be prepared to work in and outside South African borders and Sub Sahara Africa;
  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as and when required;
  • Travel extensively;
  • Must have valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
