Job Overview
If you’re the kind of technician who thrives on solving complex problems in the field, working on massive machines, and being the expert people rely on when things get tough, this role is built for you. As a Technical Service Representative, you’ll take your electrical and mechanical expertise into open‑pit mine sites, tackle real‑world challenges on Komatsu/P&H equipment, and play a key role in keeping some of the world’s largest machines running at peak performance. Reports to: Lead, Technical Services
Shift: 7x7- 12h shifts
Safety Sensitive: Yes- drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required
Travel: up to 50% travel within Canada and the USA
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation
Key Job Responsibilities
- Commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair P&H/Komatsu surface mining equipment in open‑pit environments
- Support equipment builds, shovel assemblies, commissioning, and follow‑up service work
- Diagnose complex electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and structural issues using advanced technical knowledge
- Adjust, repair, or replace components and systems according to approved scopes of work
- Test and verify equipment performance to ensure safe, reliable return to service
- Build strong customer relationships, provide on‑site technical support, and coach maintenance teams
- Document service work, failures, and reliability issues; communicate recurring problems to engineering and product support
- Participate in machine audits, outage planning, and technical meetings
- Able to travel and work overtime as required
Qualifications/Requirements
- Red Seal Electrician, HET, or Millwright (dual‑ticket strongly preferred)
- 3+ years of field experience; open‑pit mining exposure is an asset
- Strong understanding of mining shovels, drills, and loaders, with proven troubleshooting ability
- Proficiency with PLCs, digital drives, advanced control systems, and 24V systems (CAN bus an asset)
- Ability to diagnose faults, perform repairs, and verify equipment performance in field conditions
- Strong communication and customer‑support skills; able to work independently and with multi‑discipline teams
- Knowledge of welding technology, structural inspection, and interpreting technical procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
