Job Overview

We’re looking for a Journeyperson HVAC Mechanic who’s ready to take on the challenge of servicing some of the largest mobile machines in the world—from electric and hydraulic shovels to drills, loaders, and ultra-class haul trucks. This is surface mining at its biggest and boldest, and your expertise will keep these beasts cool, comfortable, and operational. You’ll be installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting HVAC systems on high-value mining equipment. Whether you're diagnosing Mine Air units in the field, repairing shovel air compressors, or helping customers spec the right system for their fleet, your work will be critical to keeping operations efficient and crews safe. If you know your way around heavy iron, thrive in high-stakes environments, and can spot a failing compressor from a mile away—we want you on our team.

Reports to: Supervisor, HVAC
Shift: 7x7, 12h day shifts
Safety Sensitive: Yes- drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required
Travel: up to 25% within Canada and the USA
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Install HVAC systems on heavy mobile mining equipment such as haul trucks, electric and hydraulic shovels, drills, and front-end loaders
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and uptime of HVAC units in demanding field conditions
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot Mine Air units directly in the field, often under pressure and in remote locations
  • Repair and maintain stationary HVAC systems supporting surface operations
  • Service and troubleshoot shovel-mounted air compressors to keep crews comfortable and equipment efficient
  • Support customers in selecting the right HVAC solutions for their fleet and operational needs
  • Identify and pursue sales opportunities when appropriate, acting as a trusted technical advisor

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Red Seal Journeyperson Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic certification required
  • A self-driven, detail-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills—you’re as good with people as you are with tools
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work away from home for extended periods as needed
  • Mining industry experience is a strong asset—especially in surface operations
  • A strong safety-first attitude with a commitment to best practices and continuous improvement
