Job Overview

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Must certify in all position mig welding as outlined in ISO 9001 welding qualification. Must have a basic understanding of metal properties and be able to set up and efficiently operate a wide range of welding craft equipment. Interpret blueprints, customer provided sketches and drawings and apply this knowledge to the product.

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Welding machines (both mig and stick), hand plasma, cutting torch, hand grinders, hoists, tow motor, bore tech, burn table, bending press, ironworker, saw and drillpress.

Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Interpret blueprints to determine necessary repairs to be made.  Uses necessary equipment to affect repairs.
  2.     Cuts material from stock.
  3.     Uses cutting torch or hand plasma to remove defective parts from main assembly.
  4.     Examines work piece to verify conformance to specifications.
  5.     Uses grinder to clean welds.
  6.     When required, uses tow motor or hoist to move or position work piece.
  7.     Plans layout of weldments based on prints, sketches, etc.
  8.     Positions and aligns parts utilizing hand tools, etc.
  9.     Welds parts utilizing a variety of welding processes per drawing or print.
  10.     Inspects work to ensure specifications and dimensions are correct.
  11.     Assembles final products and assists with the compatibility process.
  12.     Obeys all safety rules and performs housekeeping assignments.
  13.     Records labor and verifies quality with proper documents.

Qualifications/Requirements

4.  Use tape measurement

5.  Use hand tools

6.  Proper fork truck operation

7.  Proper crane operation

8. Safety training (Haz-Com, Lock Out / Tag Out, PPE, MSDS, Housekeeping, Lifting, Electrical)

9.  Knowledgeable of ISO

10.  Use presses

11.  Operate ironworker

12.  Mig weld / stick weld

13.  Hand Plasma

14.  Familiar with Burn Table operation

15.  Use cutting torch

16.  Operate grinders

17.  Operate band saw

18.  Operate press brake

19.  Familiar with bore tech operation

20.  Certified welder

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMETS

  •  Two years experience in fabrication welding
  • Have basic tools or be willing to purchase
  • Able to work any shift
  • Able to work overtime
  • Able to work weekends
