Job Overview

Burns steel pieces out of large steel plates using burn table in accordance with computer images.

Tools and Equipment: Burn table, steel plates, computer images, paperwork, overhead cranes, chains, lifting clamps, clamps, storage racks, disc grinder, paint stick, pallet, torch tips, fork truck, steel beam, electric band saw, shearing machine, hand torches, pneumatic chisels and striker tip cleaning equipment.

Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Obtains daily schedule and billing materials to organize assignments.
  2. Selects steel material and positions it on water table.
  3. Selects part number of what is to be burned and locates computer image.
  4. Removes burnt piece from steel skeleton.
  5. Uses grinder to remove sharp edges.
  6. Identifies part and job numbers with the paint stick.
  7. Transfers part to pallet for staging (holding).
  8. Selects proper torch tips according to thickness of steel.
  9. Records part number and date on billing material.
  10. Turns in billing material list, when completed, to the accounting department.
  11. Maintains steel inventory.
  12. Transports small rounds/flats of steel via steel handling hooks or fork truck.
  13. Saws shaped steel stock using electric band saw.
  14. Cuts straight lines on steel piece using shearing machine.
  15. Obeys all safety rules and performs housekeeping assignments.

Qualifications/Requirements

  1. High School Diploma/GED
  2. Trade School/Certification Preferred
  3. Use basic math
  4. Perform metric conversions
  5. Use computer images
  6. Use tape measurement
  7. Use hand tools
  8. Proper fork truck operation
  9. Proper crane operation
  10. Safety training (Haz-Com, Lock Out / Tag Out, PPE, MSDS, Housekeeping, Lifting, Electrical)
  11. Knowledgeable of ISO 
  12. Use presses
  13. Operate electric band saw
  14. Operate shearing machine
  15. Operate hand torches
  16. Use pneumatic chisels
  17. Operate Burn Table
  18. Operate grinders
  19. Basic computer skills

 

Additional Information

  1. Two years experience
  2. Have basic tools or be willing to purchase
  3. Able to work any shift
  4. Able to work overtime
  5. Able to work weekends
