Job Overview

Utilize Human Resources expertise and leadership skills to enhance organizational effectiveness in the following core HR areas: Employee Relations, Staffing (Recruitment/Selection), Training & Development, Compensation & Benefits, Legal Compliance and Labor Relations.  Serves as a business partner, supports the operational goals of the business which may include revenue generation, improving profitability, improving customer service, and/or operating in compliance. 




Provide HR direction for assigned business unit(s), which includes multi-state and multi-locations. Provide strategic direction for an employee population that consists of an hourly union and non-union, and salaried exempt and non-exempt workforce.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations – Collaborate with management to determine the most appropriate approach to employee relations issues to achieve conflict resolution in the most fair and consistent manner possible.
    • Assist managers with the application of disciplinary actions and improvement plans to establish a work environment characterized by consistency and fairness. 
    • Utilize the progressive discipline policy in a manner that fosters employee accountability and drives operational effectiveness/results.


  • Staffing – Identify highly qualified candidates (both internal/external and/or passive/active job seekers) with the requisite skill set to meet the job requirements. 
    • Through robust talent acquisition efforts ensure that new ideas, methodologies, approaches are injected into the business.
    • Make solid selection decisions from a pool of qualified candidates to fill open positions in a timely manner.
    • Participate in strategic planning sessions regarding organizational structure and satisfy the staffing requirements that are based on these planning sessions.  
  • Training & Development - Identify knowledge/skill gaps within the employee population between job requirement and current abilities, and identify the most appropriate training and development interventions to bridge those gaps as quickly and effectively as possible. 
  • Compliance - Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws governing employment practices and policies, salary and wage administration, and Affirmative Action.
  • Other duties and assignments as required. 


Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business or related field is required.

Minimum 5-7 years of progressive human resources experience that includes Employee Relations, Compliance, Staffing, Training and Development, and Compensation and Benefits is required.


Additional Skills Required:

  • Familiarity with common HRIS systems;
  • Intermediate PC skills with MS Office Suite and an aptitude to learn and use other software systems;

Working knowledge of financial statements/principles to be able to identify the most appropriate HR initiatives to address the most pressing business issues/challenges.


Other Requirements or Preferred skills:

  • SPHR/PHR Certification preferred;
  • Prior HR management experience in a multi-site role required;
  • Prior HR management experience in a multi-state role preferred.
