Job Overview

Location: Franklin, PA

This position requires the business acumen to know how the company operates to make money, and to understand the company position in relation to competition in the industry and the global marketplace. It is essential to bring into the company the advantages of external influence, including benchmarking practices and new talent/expertise. This position has the responsibility to provide the vision for the engineering organization by describing the future goals and then explaining the development strategies on the roadmap to achieve those goals. Strong communication skills are mandatory. The ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences, internally and externally, is critical. This position must use the ability of successful influence in order to get things done through other people without the use of authority.

Key Job Responsibilities

(1) Implement, govern, and execute on global strategies and tactics in the business under the responsibility of this position.

(2) Develop plans to achieve a high-performance organization that creates opportunities for leaders and individual contributors.

(3) Support major project initiatives identified at the corporate level, which may include objectives outside the typical comfort zone of traditional engineering management.

(4) Deliver engineering required to support Product NPD roadmaps in line with project timelines.

(5) Administer and manage group resources.

Predominant Tasks

(1) Manage the achievement of goals established for metrics in support of global strategies.

(2) Manage the adherence to the business's control processes.

(3) Support strategies and set targets to achieve and sustain the knowledge and skills required to perform at World Class Standards within the engineering organization.

(4) Achieve goals for succession planning to sustain the processes of the business in both the technical and managerial areas.

(5) Contribute actively to the transparency for growth opportunities for individuals within the business of engineering at all levels.

(6) Support major initiatives to achieve the required goals within the schedule and budget.

(7) Learn effective change management to achieve the desired organizational outcome by successfully changing individual behaviors as needed.

(8) Coordinate resources to meet internal and customer needs of product training, presentation, technical liaison etc.

(9) Lead initiatives to accomplish desired transformations within engineering.

(10) Drive programs to meet targets for assigned major initiatives.

Qualifications/Requirements

(1) A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, required.

(2) Basic experience managing people and projects in industry, required.

(3) Certifications or demonstrated project management, required.

(4) Comfortable working in complex and uncertain environment, forming plans, making decision, and moving forward, required.

(5) Comfortable working in a matrix environment and work collaboratively to deliver results, required.

(6) 5 years’ experience in mining or machine design, preferred.

(7) Advanced degree(s) in engineering, science, and/or business, preferred.

(8) Knowledge of basic business fundamentals, desired.

(9) Participation in implementing lean engineering principles, desired.

(10) Participation in effective change management implementation, desired.

(11) Experience in a cross-functional assignment(s), desired.

(12) Professional registration and/or membership in committees and/or technical societies, beneficial.
